LOVE IT!

I have nothing negative to say about this!
The "CHIMERA" cut was awesome! I don't know where you got it, but you're a freakin' genius man! Everything was so perfect!

Creative!

Love the idea of facial.. Percussion..

However, the synth you're using could use some more body. Some chorus, reverb, maybe a light delay. It's also quite repetitive.

Due to the awesome percussive a'capella I'm a fan of this track!

RobinDB responds:

Thanks for being a fan of my face. :D hahaha.

Ya I know the melody doesn't have much to it, because the main focus of the song is on the percussion. Obviously there's not much percussion during the breakdown, but still. I just wanted to keep it more or less simple in comparison to the drums.

Either way, thanks for listening and liking it, and thanks again for reviewing it.

Sorry for taking so long to review, I've been meaning to check this out for awhile.

You have a decent track going here, but unfortunately it never really builds like I'd hoped it would. There's loads of potential that I'd really love to see you tap into. I really love that the wobble has lots of variety though!

Most of my complaints have been addressed by poopr1221 but I'd like to reinforce a couple of them so as to emphasize their importance in my own opinion.

The original drop is definitely too quiet, the drums need more variety, the compression is a bit too much, and I'd like to also stress the importance of using a bitcrusher less.

By no means is this a bad song. It's just very simple, almost like background music. With some more work on EQ and overall flavor you could have a real hit on your hands!

I'll apologize again for taking so long to review your track
Thank you for checking mine out.

FILTHY as hell.

This has the potential to be a really great track but the mastering really takes away from it. Levels need some adjusting and then you'll have a fantastic track on your hands.

I love the epic feel of the track, and the variation of the wobbles is always a plus. But as I mentioned, everything is very restricted by the mastering or perhaps the lack thereof. :b

Yeah, I don't know ANYTHING about mastering :( Maybe there's some good YouTube videos on the subject?

Thanks for listening though and taking the time to review! :D

It's a bit late, so I apologize before hand for less-than-par review.

I really enjoyed this song, especially because you've not only made it pretty dirty, but you've also made it very upbeat. Almost like someone told you to work strictly in minors, and you just said, "No fuck that!" lol

I don't have much criticism for yo - Actually I don't have any now that I've listened a couple times. This is a very well done track. Maybe it's EQ'd a bit too far towards the mids?

All I know is you've got a great track here, and I can't wait to hear what you do with the full version, keep it up!

P.S - I'm also in the competition and would very much love a review!

When this first started I was very skeptical as to how it would end up. But as it began to progress and finally drop into the full song, I lost my skepticism and gave up full confidence. This is an excellent, excellent take on dubstep. And I'm truly jealous of all the intricacies and wild sounds that are found within.

Normally this would be where I begin criticizing, but I honestly have no comments or suggestions.

Fantastic job!

P.S - I also have a submission in the dubstep competition, I'd love a review!

conorstrejcek responds:

Thanks! I'll listen to your song right now!

Dirty!

One part evil, one part lo-fi, one whole awesome!

This is an excellent track that certainly takes advantage of the modernizing of the genre which is both a good and bad thing. The mix is so filthy that your underlying.. Somethings.. Are hidden.

The percussion is excellent, there's no doubt about it. But the open hat that's used throughout the song is used in almost a consistent matter. That would normally be okay with me, but it's at an almost ear shatteringly high frequency and volume.

If you could mix everything with more clarity, this could definitely be a fantastic, quality track! Not that it isn't already ;)

P.S - I am also in the dubstep competition and would love to have your opinion!

Very well executed!

You did an excellent job with your variation, transitions, breakdowns, build ups, everything was fantastically produced. A very enjoyable track for sure!

I would have like for the percussion to be a bit more punchy, personally, but that's just my opinion.

I don't have much criticism to offer, it's just that well done!

You'll be a tough contender!

P.S - I am in the contest as well, and would hugely appreciate an opinion!

dj-Nate responds:

Hey thanks for the helpful review! I see what you mean with the percussion, maybe I'll do something with it.

Love the reggae vibe!

The intro was fantastic and really led me to believe that your drop was going to be excellent, but unfortunately, there was no drop. The wobble just kind of came in without rhyme or reason and really let me down.

Not only that though, it was just too gritty for the style you were aiming at. I would recommend some modulated sub bass with a taste of grit and grime that we've all come to know and love from the dubstep genre. I really think that this track would benefit highly from it!

I love that you kept the percussion very simple, it fits well with the reggae style. However, some fills with toms, bongos or something would be excellent!

Overall, this is definitely a good attempt and I'd really love to see what you could do with it if you spent a couple extra hours on it!

9 and 5 (:

Decibel responds:

Hey, Thanks for dropping me a review :)

I really made this to test out Massive anda few filter effect, nothing else, I know it sucks.

I'll check your track when I can, I'm really busy.

Btw, you actually gave an 8 and 5, not a 9.

[deciBel]

Good job! 7 and 4!

Strange take on the genre..

I do have a few complaints that you may want to address, however..

Firstly, the percussion needs a lot more flavor. It has its variations but what you've got just isn't enough to provide a dynamic background.
Secondly, it seems like you only have the percussion and the wobble for most of the track. I think this could be leagues better with some more interesting pads and high register synths in the background more often to fill out the dead space.
Finally, for your wobble, I would highly recommend a few effects to spice it up. I personally like to throw some light reverb and phaser.

Overall, I'm giving you a 7 because it was a very unique take. You weren't afraid to break boundaries.. But, as mentioned, there are a few things that could use a bit of work to enhance it.

I'd love to hear what you can do with this!

P.S - I'm also in the competition, I would hugely appreciate a review. (:

DjKaz responds:

First off, thank you for the review!

I see what you mean about mixing the song up (more drum variations, synths, pads) and I'll see what I can do. And I plan on working on this much more in the future anyways, Im already on v2 as is.

And on another note, I love trying new spins on everything, I try to be unique with my music, hopefully it will get me noticed eventually. Oh well. Thanks again!
