When this first started I was very skeptical as to how it would end up. But as it began to progress and finally drop into the full song, I lost my skepticism and gave up full confidence. This is an excellent, excellent take on dubstep. And I'm truly jealous of all the intricacies and wild sounds that are found within.

Normally this would be where I begin criticizing, but I honestly have no comments or suggestions.

Fantastic job!

P.S - I also have a submission in the dubstep competition, I'd love a review!

Thanks! I'll listen to your song right now!

Very well executed!

You did an excellent job with your variation, transitions, breakdowns, build ups, everything was fantastically produced. A very enjoyable track for sure!

I would have like for the percussion to be a bit more punchy, personally, but that's just my opinion.

I don't have much criticism to offer, it's just that well done!

You'll be a tough contender!

P.S - I am in the contest as well, and would hugely appreciate an opinion!

Hey thanks for the helpful review! I see what you mean with the percussion, maybe I'll do something with it.

Love the reggae vibe!

The intro was fantastic and really led me to believe that your drop was going to be excellent, but unfortunately, there was no drop. The wobble just kind of came in without rhyme or reason and really let me down.

Not only that though, it was just too gritty for the style you were aiming at. I would recommend some modulated sub bass with a taste of grit and grime that we've all come to know and love from the dubstep genre. I really think that this track would benefit highly from it!

I love that you kept the percussion very simple, it fits well with the reggae style. However, some fills with toms, bongos or something would be excellent!

Overall, this is definitely a good attempt and I'd really love to see what you could do with it if you spent a couple extra hours on it!

9 and 5 (:

P.S: I am also in the dubstep competition and I'd really love your input on my track!

Decibel responds:

Hey, Thanks for dropping me a review :)

I really made this to test out Massive anda few filter effect, nothing else, I know it sucks.

I'll check your track when I can, I'm really busy.

Btw, you actually gave an 8 and 5, not a 9.

Good job! 7 and 4!

Strange take on the genre..

I do have a few complaints that you may want to address, however..

Firstly, the percussion needs a lot more flavor. It has its variations but what you've got just isn't enough to provide a dynamic background.
Secondly, it seems like you only have the percussion and the wobble for most of the track. I think this could be leagues better with some more interesting pads and high register synths in the background more often to fill out the dead space.
Finally, for your wobble, I would highly recommend a few effects to spice it up. I personally like to throw some light reverb and phaser.

Overall, I'm giving you a 7 because it was a very unique take. You weren't afraid to break boundaries.. But, as mentioned, there are a few things that could use a bit of work to enhance it.

I'd love to hear what you can do with this!

DjKaz responds:

First off, thank you for the review!

I see what you mean about mixing the song up (more drum variations, synths, pads) and I'll see what I can do. And I plan on working on this much more in the future anyways, Im already on v2 as is.

And on another note, I love trying new spins on everything, I try to be unique with my music, hopefully it will get me noticed eventually. Oh well. Thanks again!
